Arkansas’s Student Success Plan requirement is one of the most important things a district can get right. What the SSP Actually Requires

Since 2017, Arkansas has required every student to develop a Student Success Plan by the end of 8th grade. This is done in collaboration with parents and school officials, and is reviewed annually through 12th grade.

Career and academic planning. The plan identifies the courses a student will take each year until all required core courses are completed.
Accelerated learning and interventions. It must address accelerated learning opportunities as well as academic deficiencies and interventions.
Signatures, every year. Each annual review must be signed off, keeping students, families, and schools aligned on the plan.
Documentation that replaces Smart Core paperwork. The SSP is used in lieu of Smart Core documents for graduation requirement tracking.
